Grounding/earthing is the basis for optimal health

Do you sometimes feel depressed, agitated, lacking in energy? This can be caused by having too many positive ions in your energy field. Electromagnetic fields from cell phones, computers, and Wi-Fi cause the buildup of positive ions in the environment and you.

Grounding yourself can help alleviate the constant assault of (EMFs). The earth’s surface is negatively charged, so by walking barefoot outside is like plugging yourself in for a top-up. Whereby giving you an infusion of negative ions, soothing irritability, giving you feelings of elation and boosting your energy levels. Simple!

Ions are invisible particles that hold an electrical charge

All particles in the air carry an electrical charge which is either positive or negative. Positive ions tend to predominate urban areas, while negative ions predominate rural areas. When you are at home or work especially when using mobile phones and computers, you tend to have a buildup of positive ions from electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs) . This can have a negative impact on your health, causing a thickening of the blood and inflammation. Your body also becomes a host for free radicals which cause damage to your cells. Grounding yourself gives an antioxidant effect which helps thin your blood, plus counteracts free radical damage.

“Ancient peoples recognized that the air is “electric” so to speak, but it is thought that the formal study of ions did not begin until fairly recently. In 1899, two German scientists, Elster and Geitel, discovered that there are particles in the atmosphere that carry electricity. These particles were later named “air ions” by the British scientist Faraday. The word “ion” was taken from the Greek language, in which it means to “go” or “wander about.” [1]

Staying grounded in a modern buildings is another matter. It’s pretty challenging to ground yourself by going barefoot inside your home. Most common flooring materials are poor conductors of negative ions. This includes wood, vinyl, carpet, and sealed tiles, placed on top of sealed concrete.

I found out about positive/negative ions through my own experience. I was feeling a little off while vacationing in Spain because I had a cold and was feeling headachy and stuffy. When I took a trip to the beach and walked barefoot through the incoming surf, to my surprise I felt much better. The cold and headache had virtually and instantly disappeared. Needless to say I was a little baffled at the time but researched it further on returning home. I also discovered that I was not affected by my allergies while I was away. I could eat anything I wanted as long as I went to the beach everyday. Of course going to the beach is not the only method of grounding.

Best ways to get grounded:

  • Walking barefoot on the ground, preferably on grass, for about 15 – 30 minutes
  • Walking barefoot at the beach, making sure to get your feet wet for maximum effect
  • Going outside in or after a thunder storm. We can often feel that the atmosphere is lighter after a storm
  • Standing by a waterfall
  • Walking through a forest
  • For a quick fix, have a shower. The water running through the copper pipes can have a grounding effect
  • Using a portable ionizer in the home makes the atmosphere feel lighter and more enjoyable
  • Using an earthing kit around your computer can protect you by absorbing the positive ions

  • In March of 1999, Good Housekeeping Magazine had its engineers test an ionizer by using a smoke test, and found that it cleared out the smoke in a tank.
  • A recent study by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture found that ionising a room led to 52% less dust in the air, and 95% less bacteria in the air (since many of the pollutants found in the air reside on floating dust particles). [1]

So in conclusion, it goes without saying, outdoors is definitely better than indoors as far as your health is concerned. Stuffy homes and offices can cause you to have bad health. Taking steps to improve your environment by purchasing a grounding mat or ionizer can go a long way towards relieving the static in that stuffy environment.
