Dementia: Dietary Carbs can lead to Alzheimer disease

Too much carbs in the diet, found to be one of the leading causes of dementia

(Reuters Health) – – People with type 2 diabetes are at higher risk for dementia in general. And for one form, called vascular dementia, diabetes brings more risk to women than men, according to a new review.

Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia, now affects some 5.4 million Americans. This number is predicted to double in just the next 15 years! Moreover, women are disproportionately at risk, representing 65% of Alzheimer’s cases. In fact, a woman’s risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease now exceeds her risk of developing breast cancer.
